Biography

Mr Morris was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon to the Adelaide and Meath Hospital, Tallaght in 2007 before taking up his current post at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital in 2013. His higher orthopaedic training was on the Irish Specialist Training Programme in Orthopaedic Surgery. He then completed specialist fellowship training in spine and scoliosis surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, and pelvic and acetabular and trauma surgery in the UK.

His major subspecialist interests in spine surgery are degenerative spine surgery utilising minimally invasive techniques including lumbar and cervical microdiscectomy, pain management interventions, osteoporotic spine fractures, deformity correction and tumour surgery. In addition he has a major interest in trauma surgery including complex trauma and pelvic and acetabular trauma.

He currently serves as a postgraduate trainer in orthopaedic trauma for the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He has taught nationally and internationally on spine and trauma surgery, and presented and published numerous clinical papers and book chapters on spine and trauma surgery. He is a member of numerous academic societies including the Irish Institute of Orthopaedic Surgery, the Irish Orthopaedic Association, the Irish Spine Society, the North American Spine Society, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, AO Spine, AO Alumni Society.
