Surgical bootcamp for preparedness for learning
This video details the concept, practice and impact of our unique surgical bootcamp for preparedness for learning in during their surgical rotations overall and in the operating theatre environment in particular. At their heart is the concept of following the patient journey through our stations design and the session is timed very closely to match the clinical rotation to ensure skills learnt at bootcamp or quickly reinforced in the clinical setting. We aim to maximise safety and quality in the student’s time with surgery combining clinical technical and non-technical (ie communication as well as environmental and cultural socialisation) skills. The camps take place in the Mater Hospital, Dublin and the UCD Centre for Precision Surgery with the Section of Surgery, UCD.
