In May 2026, the Pillar Centre Team were delighted to formally launch the Mater Maker Space. This is an important milestone for the Mater, bringing engineering capability directly to the hospital environment. The Mater Maker Space provides access to 3D printing, computer aided design (CAD), rapid prototyping and other technologies that support innovation across healthcare.

- 3D Printing: highly realistic recreation of patient specific anatomy

- Development Materials: to build and develop prototypes of solutions
- Refining Tools: for high end finishes and accuracy
- Design Thinking: Mentoring in developing and evolving solutions
- Rapid Prototyping: Using the supports above, models/prototypes can be quickly produced
