Biography
“As Clinical Director of the Pillar Centre for Transformative Healthcare and the Directorate for Education, Research and Innovation (DERI), I am committed to the implementation and success of the Strategy for 2020-2023 as outlined in our strategy. Our goal is the creation of a centre which optimises the potential of staff at the MMUH in collaboration with academic, commercial and local partners to advance added value education, research and innovation on the clinical campus of a Clinical Academic Medical Centre. The commitment to these developments in education, research and innovation results in improved outcomes for our patients and the community.” In addition to his role as Clinical Director, Prof Kinsley is also a Consultant Endocrinologist at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital (MMUH) and Coombe Women and Children’s University Hospital. Prof. Kinsley is a medical graduate of University College Cork in 1983. He subsequently trained in University College Hospital Galway and MMUH before moving to The Joslin Diabetes Centre, Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA for a clinical and research fellowship in diabetes mellitus and endocrinology. Research interests at that time were in hormone responses to hypoglycaemia. Prof. Kinsley subsequently worked as an attending physician at the Joslin Diabetes Centre and Brigham and Women’s Hospitals in Boston. He was appointed a Consultant Endocrinologist at MMUH in 1999. In 2015 Prof Kinsley was appointed as Clinical Director of MMUH and is the serving President of The Irish Endocrine Society.
