Biography

Joe is a Consultant Orthopaedic Spine Surgeon, with an interest in academic spine surgery. He completed clinical fellowship training in complex spine deformity and tumour surgery at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, UK; spine trauma and degenerative spine surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA; and spine trauma and degenerative spine surgery at the Rothman Institute, Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, USA. He has been a full-time consultant at the National Spinal Injuries Unit, Mater Misericordiae University Hospital and Mater Private Hospital for 4 years. Joe is Principle Investigator at the UCD Clinical Research Centre, MMUH and a Clinical Principal Investigator at the Trinity Centre for Bioengineering, TCD. He is an Associate Clinical Professor at University College Dublin (UCD) and a Senior Clinical Lecturer at Trinity College Dublin (TCD).
